EnergoTechService has identified the best welders and mechanics

The face-to-face stage of the professional skills competition "Best by Profession" among the employees of EnergoTechService was held on September 16-17, 2022 at the Tyumen Power Equipment Plant. This year, for the first time, employees of the professions "Welder" and "Gas equipment operation and repair mechanic" took part in the competition. 11 welders and 10 mechanics took part in the professional skills competition.

The face-to-face stage of the competition consisted of several tasks. At the stage of "Checking knowledge of the current rules, instructions and norms", the participants had to answer 30 questions on HSE and professional competencies.

At the stage of professional mastery, the welders demonstrated the skills of assembling and welding pipes. The complexity of the task was to perform a butt control welded joint of pipes with a diameter of 159 mm with a wall thickness of 6.0 mm in the most difficult spatial position — at an angle of 45 °. It took 25 minutes to weld the butt joint. Control over the demonstration of the contestants' skills, recording of the results and evaluation were carried out by members of the competition commission, consisting of specialists from EnergoTechService and the Tyumen Center for Certification of Welders.

The task for mechanics was the launch of a gas control unit. All the actions of the stage were carried out on a training gas stand simulating the equipment that is most often used at the facilities of operation of EnergoTechService.

The second day of the competition was devoted to HSE tasks. The participants demonstrated the skills to release а electroconvulsive shock victim, the skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation of the victim in a state of clinical death and the skills to eliminate a fire on the equipment.

At the end of the tests, the judging panel counted the points scored and announced the winners — 3 winners in each profession. All prize-winners were awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes.

According to observers, the participants of the competition not only demonstrated high-class individual work on the assembly and welding as well as the launch of the gas control unit, but also acted as a well-coordinated team, helping and supporting each other. "We noticed that in those stages of the competition, which implied teamwork, it was cooperation that was able to provide an excellent result," the competition commission noted.

The high level of organization of the event was also noted by the guests of the competition – Deputy Head of the Main Department of Construction of the Tyumen region Alexey Mayer and director of the union "SROSTO" Elena Kataeva.

"Professionalism is methodical, conscious, long-term professional development, skills improvement and development. And professional skills competitions create an atmosphere to demonstrate these competencies and skills," said Alexey Mayer, opening the competition.

"The main goal of self is regulation to improve the quality of work performed, which is impossible without highly qualified personnel," said Elena Kataeva. According to her, the holding of professional skill contests within the organization primarily indicates that the company's management is interested in the level of professionalism of its employees and in its regular improvement. "The competition not only helps to identify and encourage initiative and promising employees, but also contributes to the growth of professional skills of employees of the entire company," Elena Kataeva summed up.
